See you in Canada

Today, I’ll be cramming the last bits of my gear into my panniers and boarding the plane to start the journey to Canada. The beginning of something is always the ending of something else, and leaving Tassie is always bittersweet. There’s the thrill of adventure, the allure of the newness, but also the sadness in saying goodbye to familiar faces and routines… and of course the random waves of terror that come with stepping out into something unknown. I can’t even imagine what this journey will be like, the things I will learn and experience along the way. I already look forward to reading back over this post in 8 months and smiling to myself.

I’ll miss my boys. I am almost certain that there will be times with my new Canadian horses, when they are freaking out or behaving like fools, where I will shake my head and say, “Mr Richard and Micky would NEVER….” I wish I could bring them with me. We are the perfect team, I know them so well, and I freaking LOVE them. However, part of what makes this trip across Canada so interesting will be getting to know new horses and developing a new team, discovering new strengths and weaknesses and learning new personalities.

I can’t wait to get hooves to the ground in Canada.

See you there!
