Part Four: Quebec, take three! Chapter One, St Sylvestre to Bonsecours, 1020km
Dear friends, we are back on the road! And we've finally ticked over 1000km woo hoo! It's hard to believe that it's taken us thing long to reach this milestone, but I am so proud of my horses for getting here.
It's been a surreal few weeks that's for sure. For those wondering, things back at home with my family are still not good, but somewhat more stable now. Always holding them in my thoughts and hoping for the best 💖
Our first week back on the road has been a bit dream-like - beautiful rolling hills of the Appalachians, quiet back roads, stunning vistas, and lovely gardens in cottages around every corner. Yes, it's been too hot, but we've been getting the distance done. The roadside ditches are full of wild flowers, the forests are so green it bends the mind, and the Quebecois are, as always, so kind and welcoming.
Some highlights of the week include lots of delicious forage for the boys, many beautiful camp sites, crossing a rattling metal bridge at Richmond (no footage sorry, I needed both my hands!), and finding our groove back on the road.
Many thanks to Gaston and Brigitte for looking after Jack and Wilson while I was away, and to Anne at Bonsecours for welcoming us and being my personal post office for the last weeks 😉
And of course, thanks to Renegade Hoof Boots for keeping the boys sound and striding out in style!
From here, we turn due west and head towards St Jean Sur Richelieu, and then //drumroll// to Salaberry de Valleyfield to cross the St Laurent.
