Part Four: Quebec, take three! Chapter Two, Bonsecours to Pike River. 1020km-1115km

Last week was one of gratitude.

Setting off from Anne's place was a challenge, heading out into the heat and leaving her beautiful welcoming home. The next two days were beautiful but so hot! We arrived at Steph's lakeside safe haven near Cowansville on Tuesday feeling over heated and a bit bothered. I felt like Jack was a bit off, although it could have just been the heat. The humidex was forecast to stay around 38-40 for the rest of the week, so we ended up staying put! I am so grateful to Steph and everyone else for welcoming us for such an extended stay. I can't imagine the stress we would have felt trying to cover distance on the road under those conditions - thank you so much!

Today, the hot weather finally broke, and we were off! Jack and Wilson strode out happily, and I am so happy that I took the opportunity to rest, for the sake of all our wellbeing. It was a long day but a very pleasant one, as we farewelled the rolling hills, small farms and beautiful cottages of the Eastern Townships and came out onto the flat lands that stretch around the St Lawrence area. In the afternoon it started raining, and then Wilson had a meltdown when we came out onto the highway - he gets really freaked out by heavy traffic with their lights on throwing up water from the road. Anyway, we made it the km or so, and arrived safely at Sandrine's beautiful property. The horses were given a feast, and I am so lucky that I get to spend this rainy night in the luxury of a caravan!

So much gratitude for these beautiful people I am so lucky to meet 💗 And of course grateful for my horses, for getting us so far and not killing me 🤞

Tomorrow we are off to cross the Richelieu at St Jean Sur Richelieu, and then a few more days until //drum roll// we cross the St Lawrence!
