Days 125-131, 2,258 - 2,400km Poochera to Ceduna

Another blissful week of riding through the rolling green countryside on the way to Ceduna, being welcomed by locals and enjoying the freedom of riding without carrying all our gear - thanks Alex!

After enjoying a rather chilly and damp night at Poochera, the boys and I had a little photo shoot outside the pub with some locals. Micky particularly enjoyed meeting the kids - he loves young people, even when they don't come with carrots! From there we set out towards Yantanabie, a stop recommended by some locals, following the old railway and pipeline. I rode Micky, which meant it was a slow old day, but we got in just on sunset, where amazing local legend Fay opened up the old Memorial Hall for us, even giving us a box of providore, complete with homemade lamingtons. Yantanabie used to be a thriving township, but as farms got bigger, more families left the area, houses were demolished and the school closed. From Yantanabie, we had a wee half day to Wirrula, camped at the Rec Grounds, and had fabulous pizza at the pub, courtesy of friendly publican Shane and his daughter Sabrina. Big thanks also to Di for helping us out with route suggestions etc.

The next morning the boys and I got up a bit earlier to make it to the school bus so we could get showered with some celebrity treatment - read lots of pats, plus carrots and apples sacrificed from school lunch boxes 😊

From Wirrulla, it was three days in to Ceduna, past the epic silos of Nunjocompita. We followed the pipeline most of the way... which is way cooler than it sounds, as it actually brings water from the Murray out to Ceduna, pumping it all the way from the Riverlands.... which means we actually haven't left the Murray yet!

It was very cool to arrive at the pony club, which is nestled in behind the dunes. Neither of the boys had ever been to the beach. Mr Richard hates water, but he did enjoy plunging through the dunes. Micky loved it all, especially splashing in the water and eating seaweed 🤣 Big thanks to Destiny at the pony club for having us.

Now the boys get a few days off whilst I run Brian up to Eucla, full of feed for the second half of the Nullarbor. Hopefully back on the roadon Monday... although I may be stuck at Border Village indefinitely. Here's a question for y'all: who picks up hitch hikers?

Disclaimer: ME! I love hitching, but nobody seems to want to pick me up today. Here's hoping🤞
